Kalgoorlie Desert Race – 25th-26th October 2019

by

Kalgoorlie Desert Race was run over the weekend of 25/26th October 2019 just north of Kalgoorlie. A record number of entrants this year made up of 44 off road vehicles and 93 motorcycles including a small number of Quad bikes.

After a prologue early Saturday morning racers set off on the first of three races. Race one on Saturday with Race two and three on Sunday.

The course was 120 kms long with a number of check points along the way. Over the two days a number of entrants were unlucky to encounter issues that saw them unable to complete all three laps.

Overall the racing was intense with some true racing spirit shown when a vehicle rolled on day one and a couple of competitors stopping to ensure both occupants were ok.

By all accounts the race had a great turn out by both competitors and spectators being larger than last year. It was great to see the support by locals turning out to this magnificent event and can only see it becoming something the Goldfields community can truely be proud of.
