Topsoff!!

by

Recently while chilling at utopia, Graham came along and parked his Z4 BMW on the footpath in front of the shops, and we liked it! So we organized our next feature shoot of “TOPSOFF”, Grahams 2003 BMW Z4

when asked why did you buy a Z4, Graham told us ” I wanted to get something different that I could drive around on weekends and have a bit of fun in”, he had a few cars in mind such as an R33 GTR, 2 door GC8 STI, S2K, Z4 and a few others which were tempting but Eventually he decided to get the Z4, “you only live once, right?”

Graham bought this vehicle in Melbourne during November 2011. At the time there were no manual Z4’s in WA (Well, the cheapest was 60k which was above his price range) so he looked interstate. He was keeping an eye on the market for a handful of cars for 2-3 months until he saw a car he wanted, he got a bit impatient and decided to go with what was available and lined up a few cars to see in Melbourne and one in Brisbane. he had a look at the first car in Melbourne and it seemed okay so the next day he bought it and a week later (after a mini holiday) he drove it back to Perth over the nullabor, Tops Off the whole way!

when he bought it , it looked like a stock Z4 would, the first thing he did when he bought it was to go for a very long drive through the twists of Melbourne’s coast , definitely the best drive he’s have ever done, the road was AMAZING he tells us

He has done Nothing major to it yet as he doesn’t want to ruin the original look.

At the moment the car is sitting on Hamaan PG3 Rims, he’s done a few other small things such as change out the interior filament bulbs with LED ones and detailed it. He’s also bought custom plates for the car AKA TOPSOFF.

A guy in Melbourne owned the car before Graham purchased it; it was stock as a rock except for the rims. The cars paintwork was in average condition so he spent $400 on products to detail it inside and out. ( Pictured left )

When he drove it over the nullabor, a seal in the gearbox went and he needed to replace the clutch & flywheel. The aircon also needed regassing.

He’s spent, not including the car itself probably $5k on it since purchasing it

he doesn’t have much planned for the car as yet , he bought the car to drive around on the weekend and for when it rained  , graham tells us “yeah, awesome choice to buy a convertible for winter, I know!”

He says “I may look at upgrading to a Z4M in the future. (N/A Straight 6 with 330hp stock) By then maybe my priorities may have changed and I’ll buy a house instead though.”

He just wants to keep it clean; he didn’t buy the car to go fast or anything, that’s what his bike is for!

“I like it just how it is.”

his most memorial moment with the car was driving over the nullabor on his third & final day , he was driving down Great Eastern HWY back to Perth and about 350km from Perth and he got pulled over and sent to court for doing 9km/h over the limit.

Graham tells us he’d like to thank Samm Williams for letting me stay at his place for a week in Melbourne and Tony at Independent BMW.
